Most consumers never think about what goes into making the tea bag material, tag, or string wrapped around their morning cup of tea. But behind every conventional paper tea bag and tag is a manufacturing process with a serious and largely hidden environmental cost.
Traditional paper-based tea bag and tag materials are produced using a wet manufacturing process that consumes enormous volumes of fresh water at every stage of production. What comes out the other end isn’t just a finished product, it’s also thousands of gallons of contaminated wastewater, carrying chemical residues, processing agents, and organic waste discharged back into the environment. This happens every single time a sheet of conventional tea bag paper material is made.
One Earth®’s manufacturing dry process changes everything. We manufacture our One Earth® filter tea bag material, string, and custom printed tags using a completely dry process. Meaning no water is introduced, consumed, or discharged at any point during production. The result:
- No freshwater consumption during manufacturing
- No contaminated wastewater returned to rivers or local water systems
- No hidden environmental cost behind the eco-friendly label
One Earth®’s water-free process is just one part of a larger commitment. Our material is 100% non-GMO sugarcane: no additives, no carcinogens, no PET and is certified USDA 100% Biobased, Compostable in 21 days or less, Non-GMO, and Plastic Free. Every product is manufactured in the United States.
