One Earth® is excited to announce that their raw materials from non-GMO sugar cane PLA have recently met the stringent criteria of the European Union (EU) Taxonomy Regulation on climate change mitigation and adaptation. The One Earth® material was awarded the 100% USDA Biobased (100% from plants) certification in 2019.
While we had no doubt that the One Earth® filter material and product line would meet the EU Regulations, it is fantastic news to receive this information about non-GMO biobased PLA being accepted by the new EU regulations.
The European Union framework has six objectives: climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources, transition to a circular economy, pollution prevention and control, and protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems.
One Earth® is manufacturing using a dry process with no water use. Unlike paper tea bag material which uses tons of water to manufacture the material and tons of contaminated water going back into the environment after a single paper is made.
The One Earth® filter material and product line is derived from non-GMO sugarcane and is unique that it is both biobased and biodegradable. Many other “eco friendly” products on the market are a mixture of many chemicals and raw materials making other tea bag material products only partially environmentally friendly. One Earth® is 100% non-GMO sugarcane with no additives, carcinogens, or PET.
One Earth® is certified: USDA 100% Biobased, Compostable in 21 days or less, non-GMO, and Plastic Free. The entire One Earth® product line is manufactured in the United States.
